Pakistan Call Two Back Up Pacers for Asia Cup 2023 Remainder

In response to minor injuries suffered by Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah during their match against India, Pakistan has made a precautionary move by calling up Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan as backup players. This decision aims to prioritize the players’ fitness and well-being with the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in mind.

Both Haris and Naseem will continue to be monitored by the team’s medical panel. If their injuries prevent them from playing for the next seven days, the team management may request replacements from the ACC technical committee. It’s likely that Haris and Naseem will miss Pakistan’s final Super 4 match against Sri Lanka, and their availability for the final, should Pakistan qualify, remains uncertain.

Grant Bradburn, Pakistan’s head coach, explained in a post-match press conference that they are taking a cautious approach with Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah to avoid aggravating any minor issues they may have had. Therefore, they did not send them to bat during the match against India to prevent potential worsening of their injuries.
