Pakistan Imported Food Items of Worth $6 Billion in 7 Months

Pakistan, an agricultural country, is spending billions of dollars on food imports. Food group exports from the country during the first seven months of the current financial year decreased by 8.24 percent, while imports swelled by 6.29 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics data, different food commodities worth $2.708 billion were exported, while food commodities worth $5.983 billion were imported from July to January 2022-23, compared to the same period last year’s exports and imports.

The imports of food groups into the country during the first seven months of last financial year were recorded at $5.629 billion, while food commodities worth 2.951 billion were exported in the same period of last financial year.
