With only a few days left in the T20 World Cup match between Asian heavyweights and arch-rivals India and Pakistan, calls for the tournament to be cancelled are gaining traction in India, after a union minister suggested it be “reconsidered.”
Recent tensions in occupied Kashmir prompted Union Minister Giriraj Singh to suggest that the match be rescheduled because the two countries’ relations were strained.
Pargat Singh, India’s Punjab Minister remarked a few days ago that the match should be cancelled since the situation at the border is “not good.”
“The T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan should not be held since the situation at the border is not good and both nations are currently through a tough phase,” he stated. He stressed the significance of “guarding humanity” and “not doing anything that would end up placing greater stress on the relationship between the two countries.”
