For the first time in the history of Pakistan-Iran economic relations, the volume of bilateral trade has exceeded $2 billion. This information was shared on Tuesday at a farewell gathering for the Islamic Republic of Iran’s outgoing ambassador to Pakistan, Syed Mohammad Ali Hosseini, and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
The envoy claimed that Iran is starting a number of projects that will be finished soon, such as the energy transmission project and a border market experiment.
“At the moment, Iran exports 144 MW of electricity to Pakistan; once Pakistan’s power plants are finished, this number is anticipated to treble. The envoy claimed that Iran has the capacity to send 500 MW of electricity to Pakistan.
Ambassador Hosseini expressed his gratitude for the friendly welcome and assistance he has received while serving in Pakistan. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral economic ties and expressed confidence in his successor to maintain the promising trend.
