Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM), Mr. Malik Amin Aslam has recently said that the federal government of Pakistan under the project of Ten Billion Tsunami Trees will plant around one billion mangroves.
On the change of the climate Mr, Malik Amin Aslam said that the area covered by these mangroves has already increased by around 300% in Pakistan since they year, 1990; however, this has covered an area that has increased from about 477 sq. kilometers to around 1463 kilometers.
He also said that the Sindh government collaborated with international organizations and has played a pivotal role for raising or increasing the mangroves the whole country. Meanwhile, he added that the federal government will soon plant around one billion mangroves that are under the project of Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Project.
Moreover in a video message, he stated that our country is the only one in the World that has a huge production of these mangroves and 95% of mangroves forests are in Pakistan like as in the Indus delta that is in Sindh province.
Mangrove forests are most productive ecosystems that exist on earth like for being a useful to a mitigate effects of the climate change that act as a natural fortresses just against soil erosion and also to protect against the tsunamis, cyclones, he added. So, Pakistan gains a huge benefit with more trees as well as mangroves in different areas of the country.
