Pakistan opens citizenship for foreign investors.

Pakistan has agreed to let foreign nationals who invest in the country to apply for permanent residency, a decision that appears to be geared at alleviating the country’s financial troubles.

Fawad Chaudhry, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, announced the move on Twitter, claiming that it is in line with the new National Security Policy.

“In line with the new National Security Policy, which declares GeoEconomics to be at the core of Pakistan’s national security doctrine,” he said, “the government has chosen to allow foreign persons to obtain permanent residency status in lieu of investment.”

Prime Minister Imran Khan had earlier in the day released the public edition of the country’s first-ever National Security Policy 2022-2026, declaring that the country is on the right track.
