Pakistan is preparing to begin producing SIM cards and smart cards domestically in order to safeguard the nation from the threat of cyberattacks, generate employment opportunities, and conserve valuable foreign currency.
According to a Pakistan Telecommunication Authority annual report, the country “is planning to commence domestic manufacturing of SIMs and smart cards to insulate the country from the threat of cyber-attacks amid a building cyber war.”
One of the main goals of the government is digital transformation and the development of an enabling environment, and in the age of digital services, SIMs and smart cards assume a crucial role.
Due to the fact that millions of SIMs are now imported, local SIM manufacturers will have a significant positive economic impact.
