Luxus Hunza, a well known resort beside Attabad Lake in Gilgit-Baltistan, is reportedly being demolished following damage and safety concerns linked to flooding in the area. However, no reliable official source has yet confirmed that demolition is currently taking place.
The resort was badly affected by a flash flood on June 25, 2025. A large amount of mud and debris reached the property, while around 150 people, including guests and staff, had to be evacuated by boat, according to reporting by Inter Press Service. The Gilgit Baltistan Disaster Management Authority had also warned about repeated flooding from the nearby Burundubar stream.
The resort had previously faced environmental scrutiny after allegations that wastewater was entering Attabad Lake. Authorities inspected the property, fined it Rs1.5 million and sealed part of the facility for three months. The hotel denied dumping wastewater into the lake.
