Pakistan Prepares Over 70 Projects for China’s Cooperation in CPEC Phase II

Pakistan has prepared a list of over 70 joint projects with China, which will be shared with the Chinese Prime Minister next month as part of the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). These projects cover a wide range of sectors, including infrastructure, energy, trade, and technology, and are aimed at strengthening the partnership between the two countries. This comes after the successful completion of the first phase of CPEC, which saw significant progress in various development areas.

The second phase will focus on five key development areas, also referred to as corridors. These include growth, innovation, green development, improving people’s livelihoods, and boosting regional connectivity. These corridors are designed to further advance cooperation and enhance development in both countries, while addressing crucial economic and social needs.

Among the major projects planned are improvements to Gwadar International Airport, the construction of the East Bay Expressway, and upgrades to the Karakoram Highway, which is an essential route connecting Pakistan and China. In addition, there are several energy projects on the horizon, including the GEIP LNG terminal and the development of new hydropower facilities. These energy initiatives reflect Pakistan’s strong commitment to improving its infrastructure and expanding its energy resources to meet growing demands.

Overall, the second phase of CPEC promises to further strengthen Pakistan-China relations and support Pakistan’s economic growth through improved infrastructure, energy solutions, and greater regional connectivity. The collaboration between the two nations is expected to bring about long-term benefits, not just in terms of economic progress but also in the areas of technology and social development.
