Pakistan Railways to Install International-Standard Solar Panels at Stations

Pakistani Railway Station are to be equipped with the high-standard solar panels to save electricity. As per the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a comprehensive plan must be devised to streamline Pakistan Railways.

As per the strategy, solar panels will be installed at railway stations in Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Karachi, Multan, Lahore, and Sukkur, a project worth Rs 40 million. The purpose is to save electricity as Pakistan runs out of resources as well as to renovate the railway industry.

In the initial phase of this project, three stations in Peshawar, twenty in Lahore, five in Rawalpindi, four in Multan, three in Quetta, five in Sukkur, and five in Karachi have been finalized. Moreover, the excess electricity produced from solar panels will be delivered to the main grid station of the Water and Electricity Development Authority.
