Pakistan Ranked Among Worst Performers in Internet Access

On Monday, the launch of a comprehensive report titled ‘Pakistan’s Internet Landscape 2022’ shed light on the intricate relationship between human rights and information and communication technologies in Pakistan.

The report, authored by Jahanzaib Haque, Chief Digital Strategist and Editor at Dawn.com, and released by human rights organization Bytes For All, emphasized that Pakistan continued to rank poorly in terms of internet access and digital governance, placing it among the worst-performing countries globally.

Although Pakistan showed some progress in terms of internet access and overall governance, the report revealed that the country still lagged behind, particularly in comparison to other Asian nations.

It pointed out that despite an increase in internet penetration, approximately 15 percent of the population remained deprived of internet connectivity and access to mobile or telecom services.
