Pakistan to Purchase 120,000 Metric tons Wheat for Afghanistan

The shipments being delayed at the terminals on or before June 30, 2022, may be shipped with a once-stated significant authorization from the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet.

The Ministry of Commerce provided a precise reason for the permission for the one-time discharge of all the shipments of products prohibited on May 19, 2022, that have arrived in Pakistan or would be arriving.

In order to work on the hardship cases, the ECC provided a one-time special authorization to discharge shipments that had significantly arrived at Pakistani terminals or airports on or before June 30, 2022, due to violations framed under SRO 598(I)/2022, dated May 19, 2022.

The ECC, under the influence of Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Mr. Miftah Ismail, approved the application for urgent advice for the award of the second international wheat tender 2022, which was initiated on July 1st for 500,000 MT.

The ECC approved the lowest bid offer from M/s Cargill International PTE/Cargill Agro Foods Pakistan at US $439,40/MT for 110,000 MT +/-5 percent MOLSO to the limit of 500,000 MT, considering the reducing trend of wheat in the global market.

A synopsis of the WPF operation—the buying and booking of 120,000 metric tonnes of wheat for Afghanistan in 2022–2023—was also being supplied by the Ministry of National Food Security & Research.
