With 167 million views, the much-anticipated T20 World Cup 2021 match between archrivals Pakistan and India on October 24 was the most-watched T20I match to date, according to the official broadcaster.
The long-awaited Pak Vs. India match outperformed the previous most-watched match, which saw India and the West Indies match with a total of 136 million viewers.
In addition, the qualifiers and the first 12 games in the Super 12 stage of the T20I World Cup 2021 had a combined audience of 238 million viewers, as per the broadcaster.
“There’s no doubt that the match’s outcome and India’s elimination from the T20I tournament disappointed supporters, but the record viewership demonstrates cricket’s unique ability to captivate spectators on a massive scale,” the Indian TV channel stated.
