Pakistan told the international community on Thursday that by 2030, it will be using 60% renewable energy and 30% electric vehicles.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam, speaking at the Leaders’ Summit in Washington, urged developing countries to follow through on their pledge to assist others in making the transition from carbon-based to renewable energy.
According to Aslam, “By 2030, we have committed to a 60 percent renewable energy and 30 percent electric vehicle transition. As a result, Pakistan is obviously contributing more than its fair share to the fight against climate change.”
“Now, the world needs to do something on climate finance,” the minister continued. “It needs to deliver climate finance for countries in energy transition, for countries that need to adapt, including Pakistan. It needs to honor the $100 billion per year pledge,” he added.
