Pakistani Doctor Appointed Dean at Top US University

Dr. Adnan Hyder, a well-known expert in public health around the world, has been chosen as the new dean of the Boston University School of Public Health. He will officially begin his role on August 15, 2025.

Before this appointment, Dr. Hyder was working at George Washington University, where he made important contributions to global health. With over two decades of experience, he has led major research projects in different parts of the world, focusing on improving health systems, tackling noncommunicable diseases, and exploring ethical issues in healthcare.

Dr. Hyder studied at both Johns Hopkins University and Aga Khan University. Throughout his career, he has earned a strong reputation for his dedication to public health, especially in areas that help the most vulnerable communities.

Leaders at Boston University praised Dr. Hyder’s leadership skills and his deep knowledge of global health challenges. Officials from George Washington University also recognized his hard work and the impact he made during his time there.

In a statement, Dr. Hyder said he is deeply committed to promoting social justice through better public health and looks forward to helping shape the future of health education and research at Boston University.
