Pakistani Noble Laureate Malala to Deliver Prestigious 21st Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture in Johannesburg

Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani Nobel Prize winner, will be giving the 21st Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture in December. What’s special is that she’ll be the youngest person ever to speak at this event.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation, started by Nelson Mandela in 1999, is a group that works for freedom and equality. In the past, famous people like the UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Bill Gates, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan have spoken at this event.

The foundation announced that Malala Yousafzai will give this lecture in Johannesburg on December 5, 2023. The acting CEO of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Verne Harris, said that Malala represents the kind of leadership they think is needed today. She’s seen as a symbol of hope for a fairer future in a world with many challenges.

This year’s lecture will talk about important things like what kind of leaders we need locally and globally, how to bring about this leadership for a fairer future, and what the vision is for making it happen.
