On April 15, the world-famous Boston Marathon will see athletes from around the world come together, including a notable group from Pakistan. This group features some determined runners who have made a name for themselves in marathons worldwide.
One standout runner is Dr. Salman Khan, a Pakistani-American nephrologist and marathon veteran. This is his fourth time running in the Boston Marathon, having qualified through his excellent performance in the Tokyo Marathon last year.
Another experienced runner from Pakistan is Hamid Butt, who has an impressive track record. He has a 6-star finish to his name and is running in his third consecutive Boston Marathon. Originally from Lahore, Butt now lives in the USA, showcasing the event’s global appeal.
The group also includes three talented female runners: Dr. Bsherri Anjum, Sahar Halim, and Huma Rehman, all set to showcase their skills on the Boston Marathon course.
Adding to the Pakistani representation are two members of the Seaview Runners Club (SVRC): Sadiq Shah and Faisal Shafi. Shah is notable for being the first Pakistani under 40 to qualify for the Boston Marathon, while Shafi is near completion of his journey to becoming a 6-star finisher.
This diverse and accomplished group from Pakistan adds to the international flavor of the Boston Marathon and highlights the country’s growing presence in the world of long-distance running.
