Pakistani Seeds Sailed Back from Chinese Space Station A Landmark in Pak-China S&T Coop

Several varieties of Pakistani seeds were sent to the China Space Station as part of the Sino-Pakistan Seed Orbit Breeding Project, and they were later returned to Earth for additional study.

Presently, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of COMSTECH, and Prof. Dr. Liu Xinming, an expert in traditional medicine, receive the Pakistani seeds returning from the Chinese space station from Mr. Cao Zhouhua, Science Commissioner of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan. Scientists from both nations will carry out additional research.

Space-based mutant breeding is subjecting seeds to cosmic radiation, vacuums, and microgravity during a space mission before returning them to Earth for further research and planting.
