Pakistan’s first Fast Charging Station for Electric Cars Established in Karachi

Abdul Haseeb Khan, a businessman from Karachi, has opened Pakistan’s first fast-charging station for electric cars.

The Libra Charging Hub station includes 160 kW fast chargers that can charge high-end and Chinese EVs with fewer batteries.

The station is located in Saddar, one of the busiest public areas in Karachi. In just 15 minutes, fast chargers can charge a car from 0 to 80%.

In an interview with a news channel, Khan explained: “It is the first fast-charging station in Pakistan. There are several EV charging stations in Pakistan, but this station offers 160kW fast charging, which allows charging time of just 15 minutes.” Khan further said that the freight would cost Rs. 65 per kWh.

This suggests that a full charge for a standard EV with a 46kWh battery will cost around Rs. 3000He called on the government to install more tower type transformers (PMTs) to support the construction of such stations across Pakistan.

“It’s a green fuel that can help the government relieve some of the energy burdens,” Khan said, adding that car owners can avoid refueling by switching to electric vehicles.
