The government’s economic measures are starting to bear fruit, with Pakistan’s provisional GDP growth for fiscal year 2020-21 estimated at 3.94 percent on Friday.
The expected GDP growth is nearly double what global lenders predicted.
The ministry said in a statement that “the provisional growth of GDP for the year 2020-21 has been estimated at 3.94 percent, which is based on growth forecasts of the agricultural, industrial, and services sectors.”
As the COVID-19 epidemic forced the government to apply business restrictions in order to slow the spread of the virus, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimated GDP at 1.5 percent and the World Bank at 1.3 percent.
The provisional progress of the Gross Domestic Product for the year 2020-21 has been estimated at 3.94 percent, based on growth forecasts of 2.77 percent, 3.57 percent, and 4.43 percent for the agricultural, industrial, and services sectors, respectively.
