Pakistan’s IT Exports Estimated to Exceed $5 Billion: PSEB

Pakistan’s export remittances from information technology and IT facilitated services (ITeS) increased 38.16 percent to $648.940 million in July-November FY2020-21, compared to $469.713 million in July-November FY2019-20, with a target of $5 billion by 2023.

This was the highest rate of growth for the IT sector since 2018, when the rate of growth for the same period was just 13 percent.

Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque praised the industry’s recent export success, saying the initiative to bring IT companies from secondary and tertiary cities into the mainstream was well underway to ensure holistic development.

The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) registration fee for IT and ITeS businesses, including call centers and IT start-ups in underserved areas of the country, has been fully waived, he said, in order to boost the IT industry’s growth across the country.

Over the next three years, Haque has set a target of $5 billion in export remittances through information technology and ITeS.
