Pakistan’s IT Exports Increased by 22.67% in December 2023, Dr. Umar Saif

Caretaker Minister for Information Technology, Dr. Umar Saif, shared positive news about Pakistan’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. He revealed that in December 2023, there was a remarkable 22.67% increase in the country’s ICT export remittances, amounting to $303 million. This noteworthy growth follows a previous 13% surge recorded in November 2023.

Dr. Umar Saif attributed the expansion in ICT exports to various supportive measures implemented. These measures include allowing the retention of 50% of dollars, introducing digital payment systems, and initiating programs to assist freelancers.

Acknowledging the efforts of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar and the Special Investment Facilitation Council, Dr. Saif expressed gratitude for their role in facilitating the IT industry. He emphasized that these policies are strategically designed to strengthen Pakistan’s national economy and foster the development of the IT and telecom sectors.

Dr. Saif is optimistic about the ongoing progress and believes that the reforms introduced by the caretaker government will lead to significant growth in the industry. Overall, the announcement reflects positive trends in Pakistan’s ICT sector, showcasing the effectiveness of recent initiatives and policies.
