Pakistan’s IT Exports Reach $1.8 Billion, Up 21% in First Half of 2024

Pakistan’s IT exports have shown remarkable growth, reaching $1.86 billion in the first half of the 2024-25 fiscal year. This is a 21% increase compared to $1.456 billion in the same period last year.

Despite challenges such as slow internet connectivity, the sector continues to perform well, with monthly exports surpassing $300 million consistently since October 2024. December 2024 recorded the highest monthly export of $348 million.

Umair Nizam, the senior vice chairperson of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), credited this growth to strong collaboration between the government, IT companies, and industry representatives.

Pakistani IT companies have been exploring new markets like the GCC region in addition to their traditional markets. Their active participation in international tech events has also played a key role in boosting exports.

With this momentum, IT exports are expected to cross $4 billion by the end of the fiscal year, marking significant progress for the country’s technology sector.
