Pakistan’s Rice Exports Surge, Earning Over $720 Million in 3 Months

Pakistan has seen a significant increase in rice exports, earning over $721.8 million in foreign exchange during the first quarter of the current fiscal year. Official reports show a record rise of 77.63% compared to the same period last year.

Between July and September, the country exported 991,000 metric tons of rice, up from 596,000 metric tons in the previous year. This increase has made a substantial contribution to the economy.

In September alone, Pakistan exported 374,000 metric tons of rice, bringing in $257.2 million. This represents a 49.19% increase compared to September of last year, when 255,000 metric tons were exported, generating $172.4 million. The strong growth in rice exports highlights Pakistan’s improving position in international rice markets.

This surge in exports can be attributed to several factors, including the quality of Pakistani rice, which is in high demand globally. Additionally, the efforts of the government and local producers to improve production and meet international standards have played a crucial role. As a result, Pakistan is not only boosting its foreign exchange earnings but also creating job opportunities in the agriculture sector.
