Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that Pakistan’s supportive role during the recent Iran conflict will be remembered for generations. Speaking to reporters recently, Asif praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, political backing, and consistent calls for peace in the region. He stressed that Pakistan stood firmly by Iran during a very difficult time.
Pakistan played an important mediating role between the United States and Iran. Asif noted that Pakistan helped keep both sides at the negotiating table, which contributed to the eventual peace understanding, often referred to as the “Islamabad Pact.” He highlighted that Pakistan condemned Israeli aggression and supported Iran’s right to defend itself while maintaining a balanced approach.
The long-standing relationship between Pakistan and Iran is based on shared borders, mutual respect, and common interests. Asif said the two neighbouring countries have strong cooperation in many areas, including border security and trade. He expressed hope that this support during the conflict will further strengthen ties in the coming years.
These remarks come as both countries continue to work together for regional stability. Pakistan’s neutral yet constructive position has drawn attention from many countries.
