Pakistan would only take part in the forthcoming World Cup in India if the cricket governing body of that nation is given a promise that the hosts of the 50-over showcase will reciprocate by visiting Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.
The demand was presented to the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) chairman Greg Barclay and chief executive Geoff Allardice on Wednesday, the second and last day of the officials’ visit to the PCB’s headquarters.
Najam Sethi, the interim chairman of the PCB Management Committee, recently issued a warning that Pakistan’s boycott of the World Cup was “very much a possibility” in light of the BCCI’s decision to not send a team to the nation for the Asia Cup, which is set to take place in September.
The PCB and ICC officials continued to discuss the predicted revenue sharing plan, according to leaked numbers, in which Pakistan would receive just 5.75 percent of the organization’s earnings and India would receive 38.5%.
