PCB Chief Met Shaheen & Babar in Kakul Amid Statement Controversy

In an attempt to resolve the situation, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi held talks with Shaheen Shah Afridi to address his grievances over alleged statements attributed to him, sources familiar with the matter revealed.

Naqvi, who also serves as the interior minister, confirmed meeting with the national team players at the Army School of Physical Training in Kakul, Abbottabad. However, he refrained from disclosing specific details of the conversation.

Expressing appreciation for the Pakistan Army’s organization of an intensive fitness camp on short notice, Naqvi commended the players’ dedication and enthusiasm during the training sessions.

The controversy surrounding the Pakistan men’s team captaincy intensified after the PCB announced Babar Azam’s reinstatement as the white-ball captain, including purported quotes from Shaheen Afridi. This reportedly led to frustration from Afridi, who felt caught off guard by the statement, according to insider sources.

Despite reportedly preparing a detailed response, Afridi was advised by the PCB not to address the issue publicly. Sources indicated that Afridi planned to raise his concerns during the meeting with Naqvi, who was also expected to discuss the team’s future plans with both Babar and Shaheen.
