The Punjab police have agreed to provide protection to Lahore-based individuals who make transactions of Rs. 500,000 or more from ATMs or banks, as per sources.
Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) of Lahore said in a statement that anyone withdrawing a sum of Rs. 500,000 or more from a bank or ATM should contact the police for security.
He went on to say that the Lahore police had busted a gang that was robbing people near banks and ATMs.
It should be noted that in Lahore, Punjab’s provincial capital, two foreign nationals, one from Switzerland and the other from Germany, were robbed of millions of rupees a few days ago.
