Pharma Companies Demand Increase in Medicine Prices by 25%

According to ARY News, the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) has requested the authorities to boost the cost of medicines by 25%.

As per the details shown, the PPMA has provided the time period till June 30 for the government to announce to the public the price increase for medicines; refusing to do so would result in the lack of a few medications in the nation.

According to the reports, the pharma companies have been dragged down into a very deeper hole by the extreme high prices of inflation, as per the PPMA President. He claimed that the cost of producing medicines had been significantly raised.

The organisation demanded that the prices of the medicines be increased to compensate for the hike in inflation now, specifically that the new administration had come into power.

The PPMA President remarked that it was being requested by the government to drop the sales tax on medical raw products while the most current negotiations are underway.

He cautioned that until the time of June 30, the prices would be required to be increased, otherwise there would be a lack of medications throughout the nation.

A scarcity of medications could be potentially very dangerous for those going through various diseases. Conditions comparable to this are currently being established in Sri Lanka as an outcome of the instability of the country’s economy, which has resulted in a pharmaceutical shortage in the country.

As per Reuters, this shortage could soon result in the deaths of people and disasters as hospitals are being urged to postpone life-saving procedures for their patients as they have a shortage of the crucial medications.
