Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has stated that it intends to increase employee pay by 10%. Following the announcement by the federal government, the board of the national airline authorised the hike.
There was a possibility that, following the pay increase, retiree pensions might also increase, according to sources.
According to the PIA’s financial report, the national flag carrier experienced a loss of Rs 67 billion in the first nine months of 2022. The federal government has been urged by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to reduce Pakistan International Airlines’ losses (PIA).
The IMF mission is in Pakistan for discussions on the ninth review of the troubled loan program. As the total losses exceed Rs400 billion, the fund has ordered the federal government to develop a plan to reduce the losses being experienced by the PIA.
