Planting Olives Can Help Bring Foreign Exchange Into Pakistan: PM Imran Khan

Prime Minister Imran Khan launched an olive-plantation drive in Nowshera district on Monday. On a day-long visit, Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman, Provincial Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, and Special Assistant on Climate Change Amin Aslam accompanied the prime minister.

Imran Khan was briefed on the government’s olive plantation drive, as the government is prioritizing olive cultivation, which will benefit farmers while also saving foreign exchange.

“A successful olive plantation campaign will support Pakistan by addressing climate change and the the country’s exports,” the Prime Minister said during the inauguration ceremony.

“Pakistan spends a lot of money on edible oil imports, which can be reduced by planting olive trees locally, particularly on the Sindh River’s western bank. The land in Balochistan is also ideal for olive plantation.
