During the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 2024), Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had an important meeting with Bill Gates, the co-chair and founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF).
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif fondly recalled Bill Gates’ recent visit to Pakistan in June 2024. He also expressed his gratitude for receiving an invitation to visit the Gates Foundation’s headquarters in Seattle, scheduled for December 2024.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister praised the foundation for its continued support in various critical sectors in Pakistan. He acknowledged their significant contributions to key initiatives, including the fight against polio, improving maternal and child healthcare, and advancing nutrition and immunization efforts. In addition, he highlighted the Foundation’s role in promoting digitization and expanding financial inclusion in the country.
The discussion emphasized the ongoing cooperation between Pakistan and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as well as the shared commitment to making a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable communities. The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s determination to work closely with the Foundation to achieve even greater progress in these vital areas.
This meeting further strengthened the bond between Pakistan and the Gates Foundation, paving the way for more collaborative efforts in the future.
