Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to give a special award called the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Medal of Excellence) to doctors and healthcare workers who bravely helped patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. These heroes risked their own lives to take care of people.

In an official message, the prime minister praised these doctors and workers for fighting the pandemic without stopping. He said they deserve a lot of respect because some of them sadly got sick and passed away while helping others.

The prime minister wants to say thank you to these special doctors and workers. He wants their families to know that the whole country is proud of them.

The Tamgha-e-Imtiaz award will be given to 81 doctors from Punjab, 87 from Sindh, 23 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 8 from Balochistan, 4 from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and 1 each from Gilgit and Islamabad. These awards are to show that we appreciate their hard work and bravery during the tough time of the Corona pandemic.

Also, 59 nurses and other workers who helped a lot during the pandemic will also get this special award. It’s to show that we are thankful for their courage and service to the community, even if it meant putting themselves at risk.
