Potato to Boost Pakistan Vegetable Export

One of the relatively few crops for which Pakistan is not only self-sufficient in terms of internal consumption and seed production but also an exporter is the potato.

Thanks to robust potato shipments, Pakistan’s total vegetable exports increased by 90% in quantity and 57% in value during the first four months of the current fiscal year.

“Depending on what was in season, vegetables were shipped every year, although potatoes and onions accounted for a large portion.

An abundant harvest of potatoes has greatly assisted in balancing off declining onion exports “said Waheed Ahmed, the association’s chief patron and an exporter, importer, and merchant of fruits and vegetables (PFVA).
