President Erdogan Becomes First Owner of Made in Turkey Electric Vehicle

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has become the first person to own the country’s domestically-produced electric car. The Togg electric C-segment SUV was delivered to Erdogan in a ceremony held in the Turkish capital of Ankara.

Speaking at the event, Erdogan hailed the car as a symbol of Turkey’s technological and economic development.

“Today, we are all seeing the accomplishment of our country’s 60-year ambition,” Erdogan stated. “Togg was created as a symbol of the scientific advancement, economic advancement, and international standing of our nation.”

Togg’s launch could revolutionise the automotive sector globally as well as in Turkey. By generating new jobs and luring foreign investment, the automobile is anticipated to strengthen the nation’s economy. Also, it will lessen Turkey’s reliance on gasoline and imported vehicles.

TOGG was first founded in 2018 for the purpose of making Turkey more independent from foreign carmakers. “It is an important step contributing to the rise of Turkey’s car industry,” according to Emre Özpeynirci, a journalist and automotive expert, who has been closely following the TOGG project.
