‘Metro Goldwyn Mayer’ (MGM), the producer of the ever-popular cartoons Tom and Jerry and Pink Panther, was recently purchased by Amazon for a whopping $8.45 billion.
On March 17, Amazon completed their $8.5 billion transaction.
Furthermore, Amazon completed its transactions barely two days after receiving approval from the European Union’s antitrust regulator. The European Union approved MGM’s acquisition by Amazon “unconditionally.”
However, Amazon and MGM content overlaps were considered “limited” by the EU’s antitrust review.
In addition, the merger would bring together almost 4,000 movies and 17,000 television shows including Tom and Jerry, Pink Panther, James Bond, and Rocky.
