Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) Continues Crackdown on Drivers and Motorcyclists

According to the latest news, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has formed special squads to deal with inexperienced drivers and bike riders who do not wear helmets.

Following the orders of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younis, Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Mazhar Iqbal has appealed to parents not to provide their under-age children vehicles or bikes.

SSP (Traffic) has also asked SP Traffic Arif Hussain Shah and all Zonal DSPs to take stern action against inexperienced drivers and to guarantee that the city’s roads are safe.

Further, he urged the ITP education wing to make increased efforts to raise civilian understanding of traffic rules.

Several students have joined ITP as traffic volunteers; therefore, he directed ITP’s squads to visit educational institutions to build traffic sense. According to the SSP (Traffic), the aim of action against inexperienced drivers and motorcyclists wearing helmets is to guarantee their own safety and should not be viewed as a punitive measure.
