The ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) promises an exciting display of cricketing prowess, set to kick off on February 17, 2024, at the PCB’s headquarters in Lahore. This edition brings together six competitive teams, vying for supremacy in 34 T20 matches across four cities: Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
The opening match features a showdown between Lahore Qalandars, the two-time champions and current titleholders, and Islamabad United, winners of the 2016 and 2018 editions. The tournament will culminate in the final at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on March 18.
Notably, Karachi will host a significant portion of the matches, with 11 scheduled, including the Qualifier, two Eliminators, and the final. Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi will each host nine matches, while Multan, known as the city of saints, will witness five matches.
One of the most anticipated clashes is between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings on February 24 and March 9, held at Gaddafi Stadium and the National Bank Stadium, respectively. Each team, including Kings, Qalandars, Sultans, and United, will play five matches at their respective home grounds, contributing to the regional flavor of the tournament.
The tournament unfolds in two legs, with matches from February 17 to 27 taking place at Multan Cricket Stadium and Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, hosting a total of 14 matches. The action then shifts to Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium and Karachi’s National Bank Stadium from February 28 to March 12, where 16 matches will be played. The final stages of the tournament and the playoffs will bring the cricketing spectacle to a close in Karachi.
