PTA has been spending more on allowances than on salaries over the last three years. According to official reports, from 2021 to 2024, PTA officers received Rs. 100 million in allowances, while their total salaries were Rs. 78 million.
Each year, the trend remained the same, with officers in BPS-17 and higher ranks receiving more in allowances than their basic salaries. Instead of providing official vehicles or fuel, PTA gives monetization and conveyance allowances to cover transportation costs.
While this spending follows government policies, it has raised concerns about increasing financial commitments. Some experts worry that prioritizing allowances over salaries could put extra pressure on the organization’s budget in the long run.
The PTA’s approach aims to manage resources efficiently, but it also highlights a growing shift in public sector compensation. As financial pressures increase, discussions about cost control and budget management may become more important.
