Punjab and California declared as sister states

The head of the California Legislative Assembly, Chris R Holden, has invited Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to sign an agreement for a ‘sister state’ relationship.

Salman Ghani, a former federal secretary, provided information about the deal between Punjab and the US state of California during a meeting that the chief minister presided over to discuss the issue. The chief minister gave instructions to immediately give the agreement its final form.

He claimed that the deal would improve trade, business, and economic ties between Pakistan and California and boost bilateral investment. He emphasised the importance of fostering relationships in the fields of culture, information technology, health, and education.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Masood Khan has said a special cell would be set up in the Planning and Development Board to give a final shape to the agreement. He stated that a Punjab government delegation had been invited to the United States to sign the agreement at a ceremony.
