Punjab Announces Rs. 15,000 Monthly Stipend for Rural Women Aged 18-45 Under “She Threads” Initiative

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the “She Threads” initiative to help rural women gain new skills and better jobs. The Punjab government has set aside Rs 310 million for this program, which focuses on training women in the textile industry.

Women aged 18 to 45 with at least a middle-level education can join. They will get a monthly stipend of Rs 15,000 and transport support during training. The program runs in Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, and Faisalabad. It offers 10 specialized courses, including industrial stitching, fabric cutting, quality control, pattern making, garment finishing, and merchandising.

Over the past two years, more than 2,500 rural women have finished the training. Out of them, 773 have already found jobs. The initiative is a joint effort by the Women Development Department and Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF).

“She Threads” aims to make women financially independent and boost Punjab’s textile sector. By learning modern skills, these women can support their families and contribute to the economy. The program gives them confidence and real job opportunities in a growing industry.

This step shows the government’s focus on women’s empowerment and inclusive growth in rural areas. More women are expected to join soon.
