Punjab CM Launches ‘Nawaz Sharif Kisan Card’ to Facilitate Farmers

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated the Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Kisan Card project, a significant initiative aimed at providing comprehensive support to farmers in Punjab.

During a dedicated meeting in Lahore that focused on agricultural reforms and development strategies, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif provided detailed insights into the Kisan Card project.

She announced that the project is set to allocate loans amounting to 150 billion rupees to around five hundred thousand small-scale farmers.

These loans will be accessible to farmers through the special Kisan Card, facilitating easier and more efficient access to much-needed financial resources.

In addition to the loan facility, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif introduced an extra subsidy program to further assist the farming community.

She disclosed that an additional subsidy of thirty thousand rupees per acre will be granted to farmers. This financial support is specifically intended to help farmers invest in high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides.

By subsidizing these essential agricultural inputs, the government aims to enhance crop quality, increase yields, and promote sustainable farming practices across Punjab.

The meeting also highlighted plans for the establishment of a modern Center of Excellence. This specialized research and development center will focus on the continuous improvement and innovation of key crops such as cotton, wheat, and rice.

By investing in research, the government intends to introduce advanced farming techniques, develop disease-resistant crop varieties, and optimize agricultural practices to ensure long-term agricultural sustainability and productivity.

The Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Kisan Card project, along with the additional subsidy program and the proposed Center of Excellence, represents a comprehensive strategy by the Punjab government to revitalize and strengthen the agricultural sector.

These multifaceted initiatives aim to empower farmers, alleviate financial burdens, and foster innovation in agriculture, ultimately contributing to the prosperity and growth of the farming community and the agricultural sector in Punjab.
