Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has been nominated for the Noble Sustainability Global Leadership Award. The Swiss-based Global Sustainability Trust, also known as the Nobel Sustainability Trust and chaired by Peter Nobel, made this recognition. It honours her data-driven work on climate resilience and the use of technology in governance to support long-term social and economic growth.
In light of her work, the Trust has invited Maryam Nawaz as Guest of Honour to the 2026 Noble Sustainability Trust Summit and Award Ceremony. The event is set for 30 November 2026 in Hong Kong.
The Trust praised several steps taken by the Punjab government under her leadership. These cover climate resilience, environmental protection, wildlife conservation, forestry, ecosystem restoration and efforts to improve air quality across different sectors.
The Trust especially noted the role of digital tools, data-based decisions and technology in tackling environmental problems while improving public services. Methods such as digital monitoring, geospatial analysis, remote sensing, artificial intelligence and environmental data platforms were highlighted.
