Punjab Government to Install Solar Plants in 528 villages for Supplying Cheap Electricity to 30,000+ Homes

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar recently declared that solar power plants will be installed in 528 villages.

He said solar power plants would be erected in five WASA locations to save Rs 2.5 billion in annual electricity bills while chairing a meeting at his office.

It was determined at the meeting to build wind and solar hybrid facilities to power rural places. The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister/Secretary of State for Energy, the CEO of the Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Plant, the MD of the Pakistan Power Development Board, the CEO of PPDCL, and other officers.

The CM underlined the importance of using low-cost energy sources such as solar, wind, and biogas for energy acquisition.

He also mentioned that solar power facilities would be used to electrify remote locations via an off-grid alternative.
