Punjab Govt. Launches “Smart City Lahore” project to improve Quality of life.

The Punjab government has established a pilot project called ‘Smart City Lahore’ to improve urban living by improving transportation and making better use of information and communication technologies (ICTs).

By enabling local area development through smart applications, the initiative will also boost economic growth and quality of life.

The key objectives that must be addressed are, first and foremost, service efficiency, or optimising the use of public resources in order to provide a high level of citizen service, secondly, sustainability, or growing and developing the city with a strong consideration for environmental impact, and thirdly, mobility, or making it easy for citizens, workers, and visitors to move around the city, whether by foot, bike, car, public transportation, or other means. fourth, safety and security, in order to increase public safety and security in everyday life as well as at major events, Fifth, healthcare, to improve the quality of health services by bridging the gap between citizens and healthcare services through fully integrated healthcare systems; sixth, utilities, to digitise the energy sector and make the best use of water in agriculture and residential areas; and, finally, the Smart City.

According to Punjab Safe City Authority Chief Operating Officer Kamran Khan, the government has given Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) permission to conduct a pilot scheme on MM Alam Road and Liberty Market parking.
