The ‘Karobar Aitemad App’ was introduced by the Punjab Police to help people track criminal records attached to their employees and tenants’ Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) in order to make informed decisions.
Whenever a person hires an employee or domestic help or maintains a tenant, according to the law, they are required to register them with the police so that the police have details about the people who live and work in a city.
In addition to allowing the tracing of their criminal histories, the new application allows employers and landlords to register their workers and tenants with ease.
The employer will be further told via SMS of the criminal record, following which the police will follow up on it with the appropriate steps.
Sohail Sukhera, who also serves as the Punjab Police Information Officer (PPIO), DIG Operations Punjab, told the media that entering a person’s CNIC number into the application results in the quick display of information about their criminal records.
The mobile app will soon be available on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, Sukhera added. Citizens can download it from the official Punjab Police website for now.
