Punjab to Launch 86 Electric Buses in First Phase of Eco-Friendly Transport Plan

Dr. Ahmad Javid Qazi, the Secretary of Punjab Transport, recently announced that 86 electric buses will begin operation on six routes in the first phase of the project. This includes 50 nine-meter buses and 36 eleven-meter buses. The initiative has received approval and funding from the Punjab Cabinet.

Dr. Qazi made the announcement during his visit to Faisalabad, where he was assessing the city’s urban transport needs and launching intra-city electric buses. He emphasized the importance of coordinated planning and collaboration with relevant departments to ensure the success of the project.

The new electric buses will be integrated with the existing metro bus service. In addition, new depots are planned to be set up at key locations, including Ghulam Muhammadabad, Sargodha Road, and Gatwala, to support the electric bus operations.

This move is expected to improve urban transport, reduce pollution, and provide a more eco-friendly transportation option for the people of Punjab.

The initiative is a significant step towards modernizing the public transport system in the province and promoting sustainability. With the launch of these electric buses, Punjab is taking a major step toward reducing its carbon footprint and improving air quality in its cities.

This project will not only contribute to the environment but also provide better and more efficient travel options for commuters.
