Rain Lashes Karachi for Second Day as Parts of Pakistan’s Commercial Hub Still Underwater

Karachi faced a second day of intense rainfall, resulting in widespread flooding across several neighborhoods, including Surjani, North Karachi, Buffer Zone, Nagan Chowrangi, Scheme 33, and nearby areas. The Pakistan Meteorological Department had predicted ongoing cloudy conditions with intermittent rain.

The current temperature stands at 19.9°C, accompanied by 8km/h winds, expected to increase to 20-25 km/h throughout the day. Despite the continuous rainfall, numerous areas and major thoroughfares like Qayyumabad Chowrangi, II Chundrigar Road, Burns Road, Arts Council, and Shah Faisal Colony are still submerged, compelling residents to navigate longer routes.

The heavy rainfall on Saturday, accompanied by thunder and lightning, resulted in sewage overflow infiltrating homes and hospitals in various parts of the city.

Areas affected include Baldi Town, Orangi Town, North Karachi, Surjani Town, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Korangi, Landhi, DHA, Shah Faisal Colony, Malir, Orangi Town, Bahria Town, Saddar, North Nazimabad, Tower, Liaquatabad, and Nazimabad. These challenges underscore the impact of the rain on daily life in Karachi.
