Rare Twin Red Panda Cubs Born in UK’s Safari Park

In Longleat Safari Park, twin red panda cubs have been born. These twins, born in June, are thriving under the care provided by the park.

Red pandas are an endangered species, with a population of approximately 2,500 in the wild. Threats such as deforestation, habitat loss, poaching, and illegal pet trade endanger their survival. The cubs, yet to be named, spend their days in nest boxes, enjoying a supply of fresh bamboo leaves.

The keepers at the park monitor the panda family closely, ensuring their needs are met. Emma, the mother, is observed carefully, with adjustments made to her diet and environment. Regular weight checks are conducted to track the cubs’ growth and development.

As the cubs grow, they will play an important role in the endangered species breeding program, contributing to their species’ survival, just like their parents did. Furthermore, this moment is significant for the team at Longleat Safari Park, as they actively participate in this important journey.
