The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has asked for a change of venue for the upcoming Men’s Asian Champions Trophy, saying the current bilateral situation and security concerns make travelling to India unsuitable for the national team.
PHF President Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani said the federation has formally approached the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) with a request to either relocate the entire tournament or arrange Pakistan’s matches at a neutral venue.
The PHF has made it clear that Pakistan remains willing to compete in the tournament and does not intend to withdraw from the event. The federation said its primary concern is ensuring a secure environment for players, officials and other members of the team.
The Men’s Asian Champions Trophy is scheduled to be held from October 27 to November 5, with Jalandhar and Mohali set to host the competition.
Pakistan’s request now rests with the Asian Hockey Federation, which will have to consider the proposed change and determine whether alternative arrangements can be made.
The tournament is expected to bring together leading hockey teams from Asia, with Pakistan seeking to participate while also addressing the security concerns raised by its federation.
The PHF’s position highlights its intention to remain involved in international hockey while seeking conditions it considers suitable for the national team’s participation.
